Woman Comes Home From Holiday To Find Squatters In Her Bed

The squatters had moved into her home in Greenbelt, Maryland, and chucked out every belonging but her bed

A woman returned home from her holiday to discover two squatters lying in her bed after clearing out every single other bit of furniture.

The woman lives in Greenbelt, Maryland, and had been away on vacation before returning on 5 April to find her front door was damaged and all her stuff had been moved from her apartment.

Then, she discovered the two people lying in her bed.

You can see the bizarre exchange she had with the couple in the video below.

Local police said: “[The resident] located two suspects, a Black male adult and a white female adult lying on one bed, the only piece of furniture still in the home.”

Naturally, she was shocked and asked what the couple were doing there. They told her that they ‘took all of her property’ before – police say – they ‘became aggressive with the victims before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction'.

The victim told FOX 5: “Not only were they in my home, but everything in my home was gone except for my bed because he details how he loved my bed so much,

“And I’m like who are you? And he says my name. He’s like you didn’t pay your rent.

“I’m like what are you talking about? I paid my rent.”

We still aren’t sure who the suspects were and they’re still on the run.

The man even explained how they got in.

However, Greenbelt police have asked for anyone with any information to come forward to help identify them.

They added that the victim's belongings that were removed were worth more than $49,000.

When the residents left on holiday, the house was fully furnished, but when they came back nearly everything was gone.

The first sign that there was a problem came when they noticed that the front door was beaten up.

Then, once inside they discovered that the closets had been cleared out, even the cabinet doors in the kitchen had been removed.

They’d also broken the locks on the door in order to get in.

Garbage bags had been left behind in the house, with some of their rubbish even smeared up the walls.

There was a woman in the bed with him.

The police said: “It’s just so devastating to come home from what was probably a really nice vacation and be excited to sleep in your own bed, and then just be totally rocked not only with the fact that someone’s been in your space, but they’ve taken everything,”

The police have recommended locals develop a relationship with their neighbour so they can keep an eye out when they leave town, as well as offering to perform periodic checks on properties for residents when they’re away.
