New Apple iOS 17 feature is 'changing people's lives'

A new iOS feature has been impressing Apple users as they consider how useful it could be.

Apple fans have been praising a new iOS 17 feature that they believe will prove to be very useful.

It is unlikely that you realize just how many features your iPhone has and its full capabilities, lets be honest.

But Apple users have become aware of a feature on the photo app that many of them hadn’t even considered before.

A viral video on X, formerly known as Twitter, has shown a camera feature that they believe could change their lives and prevent them from ruining expensive clothes.

An X user wrote in a post: “On iOS 17 you can take a photo of laundry care labels, then swipe up in the photos app to tap on laundry care and get told what the icons mean. I’m suddenly a lot less scared of ruining expensive clothes.”

They also showed a video of them taking a photo of a clothing label and then the laundry care symbols seen in the photo clearly being explained to them.

“This will change my life, just tried it and it works,” said one impressed Apple user.

“Finally, a useful Siri feature,” said another social media user.

“Well, I’ll be damned, thank you for this,” another person commented.

“Now if you ruin expensive clothes, you can blame it on IOS,” joked another user.

Other users were less impressed and insisted Apple users could simply Google what the laundry symbols signs mean to work out how best to clean their clothes.

IOS 17 was initially released September 18 of this year but the latest update, 17.2, came out last week on December 11.

The latest update fixes a total of 12 security vulnerabilities, some of which are said to be serious and users have been encouraged to update as soon as possible to take advantage of this fact.

Apple hasn't offered up much detail about what's been fixed to allow people as much time as possible to update their devices before attackers can take advantage of them, but WebKit, which underpins Safari, is among the areas which have been patched.

Two flaws were fixed in WebKit, including one which could allow an attacker to execute code.

Another issue fixed in the update is a Bluetooth-related vulnerability, which could allow an attacker with access to capture keystrokes.

The update isn't available to everyone, but can be downloaded on all iPhones released in 2018 or later. To find the update, open Settings, then click 'General' before hitting 'Software Update'.
