Footage Of Alec Baldwin Discovering Halyna Hutchins Had Died Released

Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office released footage showing the moment Alec Baldwin was told about the death of Halyna Hutchins

Chilling footage released by Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office shows the moment Alec Baldwin finds out about the death of Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin accidentally shot the cinematographer on the set of Rust last October after a prop gun he was holding discharged.

The incident, which took place in New Mexico, also saw director Joel Souza injured.

Newly-released footage shows the moment investigators tell the actor that Hutchins, 42, didn’t make it.

While sitting around a table in the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office, one of the investigators tells Baldwin: “I have some very unfortunate news to tell you.”

“What?” asks Baldwin, after he looks up from the table.

The investigator replied: “[Hutchins] didn't make it.”

A distraught Baldwin says 'no', visibly reeling from the shocking news.

The officer continues: “Yes. So Joel's still at the hospital. But the other person involved didn't make it. Sorry. I didn't want you to hear it outside of here.”

The 64-year-old actor can be seen raising his hand to his mouth in disbelief as the two investigators watch on in silence.

He remains stunned for 24 seconds, before later asking the investigators if he could call his wife Hilaria.

The investigators ask if there is anything they can do, to which Baldwin replies: “I want to call my wife. I want to go and call my wife.”

He swiftly leaves the room with his head in his hands.

All police files associated with the ongoing investigation were released on Monday (25 April), including interviews with key witnesses – such as Baldwin, first assistant director David Halls and armourer Hanna Gutierrez Reed – at the scene

Despite the fatality being an accident, Baldwin could still face charges, according to Sheriff Mendoza.

Appearing on Good Morning America on Tuesday (26 April), Sheriff Mendoza said: “He was the one that handled the weapon that fired the round that led to the fatality.

“We're going to work with the DA's office to determine if there is criminal neglect or criminal charges.

“We kind of know who didn't do their jobs here. That was one of the key questions.”

Mendoza added that police are still waiting for forensics and ballistics reports into the shooting that happened more than six months ago.

He continued: “The key component is the analysis on the firearm and the FBI report. Once that's all corrected, [the DA] will make the determination of who's responsible, if anyone.”
