Music fans have hit back at Adele's decision to defend a fan from security guards after they approached him during one of her gigs in Las Vegas.
The backlash comes after the 35-year-old pop star paused her performance of 'Water Under The Bridge' at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace when she spotted security guards speaking with a man in the crowd.
The man, named Juan Pablo, had been filming himself on a selfie stick as he stood and sang along with Adele, but he appeared to be asked to sit down by another member of the crowd.
Adele later told the man, 'you can stand up now darling', but when he jumped up from his seat he was approached by two security guards.

Unimpressed with what she was seeing, the singer halted her performance and criticised the security guards, asking: "What is going on with that young fan there who's being bothered so much since I've been on for standing up? Can you leave him alone, please?"
Adele argued the fan was 'here to have fun', but after her response was shared online many people argued the security guards were actually the ones doing the right thing.
In a Reddit thread under a news story about the event, people criticised Adele for defending the fan.
"Honestly, Adele you're all the way up there and have no idea how annoying he might be to others lol. That looks obnoxious," one fan wrote, while a second commented: "Someone posted this hoping the comment section would be happy for him and claim how he was in the right. That person was wrong."
A third added: "I mean- if he’s standing in front of me waving a selfie stick around I would be annoyed as well. I don’t care as much about the standing. It might be Adele’s show. But it’s not her venue...

Some fans suggested the enthusiastic fan could have attempted to 'compromise' by stepping to the side to avoid blocking other people's view, though others pointed out that blocking the aisle may have been a fire hazard.
When he shared videos from the gig on TikTok, Juan Pablo thanked Adele for the 'breath-taking night' and for 'standing up' for him during the concert.
"I'm also sorry that I didn't respond back to anything you asked me. you started talking to me and I literally stopped breathing," he added.

The fan admitted he didn't expect 'everyone in [his] section to be mad', but added he 'did not care at all about what anyone was saying'.
