Raiders of the Lost Ark’s Karen Allen said she was 'disappointed' by her lack of screen time in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The latest instalment to the Indiana Jones franchise was released late last month.
Starring Harrison Ford as the iconic adventurer Indy, the movie saw high-stakes action, the introduction of his goddaughter Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and the return of his long-term love interest, Marion (Allen).

Despite getting married to the titular character in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Allen was only allotted minimal screen time in the fifth film.
Discussing her cameo in Dial of Destiny, the 71-year-old actor revealed that her character was originally 'much more involved'.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Allen said: “When Steven [Spielberg] was still going to direct the film, I didn’t have the opportunity to read any of those scripts, although I know that Marion was much more involved in the story at that juncture.

“And the next thing I knew, I was reading a script that told [Dial of Destiny’s] story, and of course, I was disappointed.”
“I had thought that I would be majorly a part of the film, and that was just not the direction they decided to go.”
She also stated that the writers had 'some problems to solve with the story' and found it difficult to exclude Shia LeBeouf’s Mutt Williams and include his mother, Marion.
“They chose to create this story that Mutt had been killed in the war and that it put a wedge between Marion and Indy.

“I mean, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I read it. But I was really happy that they came back together in the end.”
Earlier this year, director James Mangold told Variety that there wasn’t room for LeBeouf to reprise his character.
He said: "I think the point I had was that when I came on, I wanted to capture that wonderful energy between Indy and an intrepid female character.”
"So that was my first goal, and there's only so many people you can edge into a picture.”
Many fans have taken to social media to discuss Allen’s iconic role being reduced to a cameo in the latest Indiana Jones movie.

One Twitter user wrote: “Yeah, it was handled poorly.”
Another said: “The movie really should have been her and Indiana on one last ride with a more upbeat tone. We can’t expect much from Disney though. They ruin everything they buy. I’m glad it’s a flop.”
A third commented: “I'm glad she appeared at all. Definitely feels like they originally excluded her but then brought her in as a cameo in a reshoot.”
