The forthcoming Rick and Morty anime series has been set up to fix one major issue which is currently plaguing season seven of the original Adult Swim show.
Earlier this month, HBO Max surprised Rick and Morty fans with the news that a spin-off anime version of the show would be heading to the small screen sometime soon.
The anime adaptation has been lauded as the perfect stepping-stone to expand the Rick and Morty multiverse and welcome diverse fans into the fold.
However, one of the more interesting aspects of the new series is how showrunners are tackling the removal of show creator and voice actor, Justin Rowland from his post.

If you’re unfamiliar, Rowland, helped co-create the original adult animation with Dan Harmon, and also voiced both titular characters in the sci-fi sitcom from December 2013 to December 2022.
However, Rowland parted ways with Adult Swim in January 2023 after domestic violence charges from May 2020 came to light.
Since his departure from the show, the question of who will take up Rick and Morty voice acting duties has hung in the air.
While this is a serious issue that the main adult series is still dealing with, the anime version has seemingly breezed through and effortlessly fixed this major talking point.

While Rick and Morty: The Anime will still feature the titular characters, these will be totally new versions plucked from the multiverse and voiced by Yōhei Tadano and Keisuke Chiba, respectively.
Portraying diverse versions of the iconic protagonists means that Rick and Morty: The Anime voice actors can put their own spin on the story, instead of just mimicking Rowland’s previous efforts.
Therefore, the 10-episode anime series has solved the main issue that the original Adult Swim animation is currently facing - and we’re so excited about it!
Elsewhere, it’s also been reported that the tone and humour of Rick and Morty: The Anime will differ wildly from its parent series.

This potentially means that the main series’ issues won’t impact the creative direction of the forthcoming anime show either.
According to ScreenRant, it’s possible that the new anime series could even work to bridge the gap between season six and the unreleased Rick and Morty season seven.
At this moment in time, neither the release date nor the new voice actors for Rick and Morty have been announced.

But with season six concluding last December, we can hope to see the Adult Swim show return to our screens very soon.
Rick and Morty: The Anime is being developed by Akashi Nano and is expected to premiere on Adult Swim and HBO Max sometime in 2023.
